Our Story

Our business is run by lifelong friends, Adrian and Sue. They pride themselves on giving a personal service and an ethos of only making furniture that they would be proud to put in their own homes.

Chatsworth Cabinets started when friends approached them to make bespoke pieces because they were struggling to source quality furniture at an affordable price.

Leveraging over 40 years of skill and experience from their shop fitments business the pairing soon developed a range that they thought would appeal to a wider market.

Our people

While we are proud of our skilled workforce, we’re not afraid to embrace modern technology where it helps us to achieve the quality we feel our customers deserve. Making furniture has come a long way from dimly lit sheds with grey haired craftsmen in brown coats, chiseling away for months to make the best handcrafted cabinetry. Our team is young and enthusiastic but far more at home in their jeans and trainers.  They still use chisels but they also use the very latest in 3D CAD design systems and modern materials to help create hand finished furniture to be proud of.

When making your furniture we always select the best materials for the job.  Whether it be high grade composite materials to reduce movement in your centrally heated home, quality solid oak accents and brass furniture to exude refinement, or smooth self-closing door and drawer mechanisms.

“quality and integrity as well as style and elegance”

Technical Details

Made here in England our furniture is constructed from a high quality moisture resistant fiberboard material.  This material is strong, stable and resists movement preventing the appearance of unsightly cracks in painted finishes. This ensures your furniture has the strength and longevity to survive the centrally heated climate controlled environment of the modern home.

To create the perfect paint finish we use hard wearing Acrylic child safe paint that complies with EN71 safety standards. We apply three layers of primer and a minimum of two finishing coats to make the ultimate finish more durable.

For the tops of some of our pieces and pegs on our racks we use solid oak and we treat this with a nontoxic child friendly finishing oil to give protection while maintaining the natural beauty of the wood.

All our door furniture is genuine brass with a highly polished chrome plated finish as standard.

The draw runners we use are soft close as are the hinges on our toy and storage boxes.  All doors on our cupboards and wardrobes are fitted with door dampers to prevent them slamming shut.

The interior of our drawers are constructed using birch plywood for strength and durability.  They are lacquered with a clear semi-gloss finish to make cleaning easy.
